Miami Chief Unknown 1892 Misc Miami Record-Herald. Miami's first newspaper, started by John Warren and Charley Dagnet. Purchased by J.L. Dragoo in 1894, merged with the Herald.
McWilliams Opera House 2 S Main 1892 Building Original building erected in 1892. Third story added in 1901, it then became the McWilliams Opera House. In 1917, building was purchased by First National Bank, who announced that it would be converted to a modern office building. In 1937, another remodel was complete. State business college moved in on Sep. 13 of that year.

Miami Herald Unknown 1894 Misc Miami Record-Herald. Moved the Afton Herald here and renamed it the Miami Herald.
Bank of Miami 2 N Main 1895 Services Miami Record. In 1908, reorganized and became Miami State Bank.
Moore Hotel Central and NE A 1895 Hotel Single story, second floor added in 1908. In 1913, new ownership, became "The New Moore Hotel." Miami Record-Herald mentions a syndicate leasing the hotel starting January 1, 1916 for five years. January 14, 1916 edition says that W.M. Scott surrendered his lease to J.J. Rosenthal, and that a renovation would take place.
National Hotel 1 N Main 1896 Hotel Frame building, was soon replaced by a new rock building for Palace Drug. Still there in 1900.
Beck's Lumber Yard 7 SW B 1896 Retail Took up north half of block. Appears to be gone by 1898, missing from Sanborn map that year.
Neosho Hotel 29 S Main 1896 Hotel Sat on corner of Main and SE 1st. Was gone by 1898, not on Sanborn map.
Pete Stover Livery Barn 10 W Central 1896 Services By 1900, advertising in the Record-Herald as "west side Main St, North of National Hotel" Sold in 1900 to James Patton and son.
Baptist Church 28 SW A 1896 Church Revamped in 1916. Miami Record-Herald.
Neosho Hotel Main and SE 1st 1896 Hotel Sanborn map. Later became the Commercial Hotel.
Miami Record Unknowon 1896 Misc Miami Record-Herald. Article about the paper's history.
Miami Record Unknown 1897 Misc Miami Record-Herald. H.C. Brandon established it, later sold to a couple of fellows named Ladd. Brandon then bught the Record, then sold it to Vancourt Yantis, who was still editor when it consolidated with the Herald in 1904.

However, the daily Republican became the Miami District Daily News in February, 1917. It was still publishing in 1919. Was in the Bowling building in 1900.

Miami Record-Herald `18 E Central 1904 Misc Miami Record-Herald. The Afton Herald moved here in 1894. The Miami Record started here in 1896. The two combined in 1904. Was at 18 E Central by 1916. Daily edition began on May 21, 1917.
